Hellos:D
Like everybody else I'm missing summer school and everybody there. I have learnt many things that I never expected myself to learn at the summer school. The whole trip was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I have learnt not just from the lectures but also from the surounding people and things. Like Ms Low always said :"Be observant of your surroundings"
At summer school, I learnt something very important known as friendship and the power of friendship. Friendship is a very important part of summer school. I believe that everyone has a "close friend" other than our own schoolmates. Although 2 weeks may seem very short but everyone as made lots of friends that up till now we still contact one another. One example is Yu Peng, during the 1st week he was extremely quiet and it was very rare to even hear his voice but during the 2nd week due to people that tried to make friends with him he opened up and he was with a group. We could even hear him speak and laughter coming out from him. I think without these people known as friends that reached out to him, he probably would still be very quiet at the end of summer school.
Of course, within our own school, we formed a strong bond through the 2 weeks. Compared to the 1st few days where we just stick the people we knew better, we have formed a very strong bond and friendship within ourselves. In the beginning, during debrief we would still keep some thoughts within ourselves because we are afraid of what others think but as the weeks pass we are more willing to share about what we think and feel because we have became more familiar with one another. There were times where some of us were sick and injured and all of us showed care for one another. We shared laughter and tough times together hence we were are very willing to express ourselves as we do not feel uncomfortable within ourselves.
The main aim of this trip is to learn leadership. Through all the lectures and activities, I learnt a lot about leadership. Things like not neglecting any followers, communication is important and temper gets you nowhere. The mentors are living examples of what we want to learn of leaders. They are very enthusiastic, they involve everybody and never leaves everyone out. When the group feels lost (eg. leadership project) they show us the way then leaves us alone again so that we do not fully depend on them.
Through this trip, I have learnt a lot of things, a lot more things than just leadership and maybe also how to be a good follower. I made lots of friends and I truly enjoyed myself. I never knew learning could be so much fun! And I would like to thank everyone( 9 students and 2 teachers) that went with me on the trip and brought me many fond memories that will last for a lifetime! :D With that, I shall end here! Bye!
