Hellos:D
The final day of the summer school. I believe that everyone will at least feel a little reluctant to go. 18th december. In the morning, we were once again divided into groups.
For me, I had a general knowledge quiz and my group got the lowest points. This goes to show that our general knowledge isn's so good. Hahas :D Maybe we could do something about. Then we had the beyond highschool talk and we had to sit in a circle and vincent started off with asking eveybody's ambition when they were 5 years old and now. Almost everyone had different ambitions for when they were 5 and now.
After lunch, it was the leadership project presentation that everyone had prepared for quite some time. For my group, we did not do any rehearsal at all. So when we went on stage it was pretty disorganized and I was stammering most of the tym. Justin knew we weren't prepared and he was willing to stand out to the introduction and the summarizing. He was trying to cover up for the mistakes we did and this is something we should do as a group. Like Ms Tan said before " A team is only as good as it's lousiest person" after the presentation, our group even encourage each other saying that we did our best that's what's important. It is also due to this encouragement over the past 2 weeks that my group has manage to build a very good bond within ourselves. We'll never discourage anyone and I believe this is something every group should learn to do.
For the leadership presentation, Dun Kai mentioned that one of his group members did not want to go up to present and so we should learn to face our fears because everyone has their own fears and speaking up in front of one dining hall full of people sure isn's easy with the fact that there are judges there as well too. But the important thing is to face our fears because we can escape for a period but not always and we might even regret it next time if we didn't go up to present. And for the other group members, I feel that they should do their part to ease the nervousness of the panicking group member and like let her know that everyone's together out there. This is what I feel, a part of teamwork.
For Melissa, she mentioned that she was feeling nervous before the presentation and this shows that they really want to win because they put in great effort. Basically, I feel that because melissa's team worked really hard together they actually felt nervous together and in the end they reaped what they sow and they felt really happy together!
At night, We had the valecdictory dinner. And like what Justin said over the past 2 weeks we had forged a really deep friendship. We may come from different countries and have different culture but we all share common things and like the same things too. This is sufficient for us to be friends. I agreed with what he said and it really summarises the whole summer school to not only learn about leadership but also to form strong bonds with other people from other countries and other people within our own countries too.
That's pretty much what I wanted to say. So good night!

The leadership presentation wasn't that interesting to me. I think it is because of the song and there is only one mike and the screen is small. We sitting at the back couldn't really hear what are they saying and couldn't see what are they doing. However, i can see that most groups have put in their effort in this presentation. It was quite disappointing for my group not getting the leadership award but i feel that as long we had put in our effort is enough.
ReplyDeleteThe valedictory dinner was maybe the first formal dinner i ever had. We wore formal wear and ate like we are in a formal dinner. That was the most memorable night. We all have both happiness and sadness in our heart and we tried to enjoy ourselves.
Well everyone is really reluctant to go. For me i am already missing Melbourne already, i will return to Melbourne in the future. I think we all learnt a lot these 2 weeks and i hope we get the chance ro go on these kind of trip again.
ReplyDeleteThese weeks i learnt a lot and make lots of friend and bonded closer to the freinds i already know.
I think they leadership presetation went off quite well a our group decided to present second even thought one of our team mate was nervous and we encourage her that everything will turn out well and it really did.
Thats about it. Bye guys.
I am definitely missing Melbourne and those two weeks were wonderful. The formal Valedictory dinner struck as a reminder that it heralds the end of the Summer School program, i was feeling pretty sad during the Valedictory Dinner and took my last chance to get as many photos as possible.
ReplyDeleteThe leadership presentation for me was not very interesting either as Yan Yan mentioned, our group had some last minute hiccups with the video that led to some problems with the presentation. Whats more i agree that the screen is indeed too small and a projector should be held in place, preferably in a lecture theatre.
