Hey all! It is my chance to share with you all today.
I have always been dozing off during lectures but I have found a solution to keep me awake! Yesterday morning, I went for a jog with dunkai, germaine, jingyi, jiahui, gaoqian, yanyang and Victoria. It’s a good way to start the day! After that, I felt awake for the whole day which was really good as I could pay attention during lectures.
For the first lecture, it was on Intellectual Property. Intellectual property is something that you create with your mind. It is not a physical property. Major types of Intellectual Property Rights are copyright, trademarks, registered design, trade secrets and patents. Basically its about protecting your ideas and preventing others from copying them. Like what weijie and benedict said, we should also credit people for the things they have done.
Next up was another lecture. This time, it was about Art and Science Materials Conservation. The objective is to stabilize and preserve culturally significant materials. Problems might be faced. Solutions to them are to understand the composition and behaviour of original materials, define mechanism of deterioration and to be able to observe all materials used. When we have a problem, we shouldn’t see just the surface of the problem but investigate deeper into it.
For the last lecture of the day, we had a talk about Global Warming. I find that what Victoria pointed out was right. We should set goals that are harder to attain so that we challenge ourselves and do our best to achieve it.
After that, we went to Chinatown by tram for dinner. For my group, we settled down in an Asian restaurant. Other groups had dinner at different places. Then, we walked over to Melbourne Central for chocolate desert at Max Brenner. It served very good chocolate. There’s one in Singapore at the Esplanade. So yeah, we can always eat them again back home. :D
As I was walking pass a shop at Melbourne Central, this quote caught my attention and I found it really meaningful. “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give” Winston Churchill. I find the quote really true. In life, we have to contribute so that we will get something good in return which can improve your life.
Lastly, yesterday, when gaoqian lost his camcorder, those of us who were in the same room as him neglected him. I guess all of us loss things here and find them very quickly in awhile so we did not take him seriously. That was our bad. We should learn from Aaron who helped gaoqian look for his camcorder. Caring is one of the key points in becoming a good leader.
That’s all, everyone! Goodnight. :)

During the time where GaoQian lost his camcorder, i think we should help him find or at least concerned him or else he would feel neglected. It was a very huge pressure to him as taking care of the camcorder is his responsibility. I hope that we will be more caring of our friends and put ourselves in their shoes in times of situation.
ReplyDeleteHellos!
ReplyDeleteI agree that with what Melissa said about Caring is one of the key points of being a good leader. I feel sorry too for not helping out Gao Qian and still playing when he lost his camcorder. But I feel that something good is that we actually realised that we actually neglected Gao Qian and we tried to help him after that. Well, it's better late than never, right? Well, I think that we should try to put ourselves in other shoes and be sensitive of what other people feeling and help one another when we need help. That's pretty much what I wanted to say, so Good night! :D
yeah i agree with melissa that we should have paid more attention to him and not just ignored him like that. If it was me that lost something, i will feel very distressed and i will feel very sad and neglected if everyone ignored me.
ReplyDeleteI must say we are truely no-so-aware of our surroundings and we really neglected the fact that Gao Qian lost the camcorder which did not belonged to him, instead of which belonged to the school.
ReplyDeleteWe really fail to show compassion to our friend in times of need and i feel that this is something of which we must truely rethink about.
As for the Copyright Infringement lecture, i think that there is a deeper meaning to it as people it gives us more knowledge about laws of copyrighted items and how it affects us. It also sends a message through that originality is pretty important and we should only take other's creations as reference.
Hello:)
ReplyDeleteactually, i also agree with melissa that we should have showed more care and concern for gao qian when he lost his camcorder. We must take into account that the camcorder was not his, it was the school's, so he had a big responsibility on his shoulders. However, what's done is done, and it is a fact that we didn't help him find the camcorder. So i feel that what we can do now is to be more aware of our surroundings, especially if someone needs our help.
As for the lecture, I interpreted it as a talk on how to protect our thinking, or even dreams and ambitions. Overall, it was quite an interesting talk. :)
that's all.
have a nice day ahead! :D
