Thoughts on the first day

Today has been a long and tiring day as we did not have a good sleep on the plane. When we reached melboune we were sleepy and excited at the same time. We were exited to find out how was the weather like in melbourne. I was a bit shocked on the plane when the pilot said that it was 17 degrees celsius in the ground. When we stepped out out the airport, we found out that it felt as if it was a natural air con around us. I thought that it will be colder than what i felt as the air con at home felt colder when it was at 17 degrees celsius. When we reach the college by bus, we were attacked by a swarm of flies. I had totally forgotten that it was summer in melbourne even though if felt like it was winter to me. After that we were shown to our rooms and we settled in. After unpacking our stuff we went to eat lunch and bought a lot of water. After that we had our dinner and there was a sort of dance and we had to participate and most of us did not as we were new to this place and we were shy. As some of our group were reluctant to join in and so it affected the rest of us and so the whole group of us did not join in. I hope that the same thing won happen again and that tomorrow when we were seperated into different groups i hope when i made a close friend, i can encourage him to participate in the activities and than we will further encourage other groups to join in.

  1. Yes, the flies are part of the experience of Australia. Turn your reflections into action and learn from mistakes that we have made.

  2. Glad that our NAS leaders have arrived safely and everyone is in good shape.

A leader must always do the RIGHT things RIGHT. Not enough just to do the right things. Be mindful of the power of peer pressure as it can immobalize you into in-action and you end up wondering why you didn't do the things you can do. Learn as much as you can by being open minded to ideas. A leader cannot afford to be shy as he/she is always under scrutiny.

The dance thing sounds fun. Might want to introduce them as our Sec 1 Orientation Camp and Sec 3 Koref Camp.
